What to Expect
FAQs – Bootcamp UK Bexleyheath (St. Columba’s)
Is Bootcamp UK Bexleyheath suitable for beginners?
Yes. Lots of people join having not trained for a while. Andy sets up every session so you can start where you are and build up, with easier and harder options for each exercise in the circuit.
What should I bring?
Just the basics: trainers, a comfortable workout kit and a water bottle. A light layer (hoodie/jacket) is handy on cooler evenings, and gloves can help in winter.
Do you still run sessions if it’s raining?
Yes – we’re an outdoor bootcamp and train year‑round. When the grass is good we use the playing fields; in rougher weather we move onto the hardstanding between the buildings. Andy will tweak the session to keep it safe if conditions are poor.
Do I need to book before I turn up?
Yes, please book in advance. It keeps numbers sensible and means Andy knows to expect you. Most new members start with the 10 sessions for £10 intro offer to try a few classes before choosing a membership.
Is there parking at St. Columba’s?
Yes. There’s parking in the main car park as you enter the school. From there it’s a short walk over to the fields or hardstanding area. Aim to arrive 5–10 minutes early your first time so you’re not rushing.
How often should I come each week?
Most people feel best training 2–3 times per week, but even once a week is a solid start while you build the habit and fit it around work and family.
I’m nervous about joining a group – what’s it actually like?
Completely normal. Many people come on their own the first time. The Bexleyheath group is friendly and down‑to‑earth, and Andy makes sure you’re never put on the spot – you’ll be shown what to do, encouraged and left to go at your own pace.

Your coach – Andy Bull
Sessions at St. Columba’s are led by Andy Bull, who has:
- Over 20 years of experience in PT and group exercise
- Spent the last 9 years running big, community‑based outdoor fitness programmes
- A focus on making fitness fun, engaging and inspiring for everyone
Andy welcomes all fitness and ability levels. His coaching style is about:
- Clear instructions and support, so you move safely and effectively
- Motivating you to work at a level that’s right for you
- Developing a team and culture that embraces everyone
You’ll also sometimes see other members of the coaching team (like Gaz) helping to run larger classes, making sure you’re pushed when you want it and supported when you need it.
Andy loves using big, functional exercises and kit you don’t often see in regular gyms – think tractor tyres, logs, barrels and battle ropes – alongside bodyweight moves and simple equipment. It feels more like a supportive training camp on the playing fields than a traditional gym‑floor workout.
Where we meet – local info
We meet on the playing fields and hardstanding within the St. Columba’s school grounds:
- Spring, summer & autumn:
On the playing fields at the far side of the school grounds, beyond the main school buildings. - Winter:
On the hard‑standing area between the school buildings – ideal when the fields are softer or the weather’s rougher.
You can park in the main car park immediately as you enter the school, then walk across to the fields or hardstanding area. On your first visit, aim to arrive 5–10 minutes early so you can park, find the group and introduce yourself to Andy.
(When you add photos to this page, show the fields, hardstanding area and Andy coaching – it helps new people visualise exactly where to go and what to expect.)

What a Bootcamp UK Bexleyheath session is like
A typical session lasts about 60 minutes and follows a clear structure:
- Warm‑up & mobility – gentle movement to raise your heart rate and prepare joints and muscles.
- Circuit training blocks – rotating stations that mix strength (squats, lunges, presses, rows, carries, core work) with cardio (runs, fast walks, step‑ups), often using functional kit like tyres, barrels or battle ropes in a straightforward boot camp circuit format.
- Coaching & technique help – Andy and the coaching team demo each exercise, offer easier and harder options, and keep an eye on form so you move safely and effectively.
- Cool‑down & stretch – simple stretches and breathing to aid recovery and reduce soreness.
These exercise classes are designed so the same circuit can feel like a gentle re‑start for some people and a tougher challenge for others, depending on how hard you choose to work.
You train alongside the group for motivation, but you always work at your own pace.

Do I need to be fit before I start?
No. You don’t need a base level of fitness to join Bootcamp UK Bexleyheath. These are genuinely Beginner fitness classes as well as suitable for people who already train.
If you’re coming back after a break or feel very unfit, Andy will:
- Help you choose lower‑impact options
- Encourage walking instead of running when needed
- Let you take rests whenever you need
Over time, you’ll build fitness and confidence at your own pace.
What should I bring and wear?
Bring:
- Trainers
- Comfortable workout clothes
- Water bottle
Wear:
- Dress for the weather at St. Columba’s. A light layer or hoodie is useful on cooler evenings; gloves can help in winter.
- In wet conditions, wear something you don’t mind getting a bit muddy – it’s part of real outdoor training.
All equipment needed for the session is provided.
Will I be able to keep up?
Yes. Everyone works at their own pace, and every exercise in the circuit has easier and harder options. You can:
- Slow things down
- Take extra breaks
- Choose simpler versions of movements
Andy’s role is to coach and encourage you, not to single you out. You’ll be challenged appropriately, but not pushed beyond what’s safe or sensible.

.
What if I don’t know anyone?
Completely normal – lots of people turn up on their own at first. The group at Bexleyheath is friendly and welcoming, and you’ll quickly feel part of the community. Many people find the social side of group classes and bootcamps – shared effort, encouragement and a regular routine – is what keeps them consistent.
Membership options – Single Park vs Multi Park
Alongside the intro offers, Bootcamp UK Bexleyheath has two main membership options:
Single Park Membership
- Unlimited sessions at Bootcamp UK Bexleyheath (St. Columba’s)
- Best if you mainly train at one location each week and like a consistent routine with the same coaching team
Multi Park Membership
- Train across the wider Bootcamps UK network of bootcamps
- Ideal if you want the flexibility to attend different parks (for example, Bexleyheath on some days and another Bootcamp UK location near work on others)
Both memberships include coached boot camp‑style sessions and structured bootcamp training. The difference is how flexible you want your locations to be.
How to book your first Bexleyheath session
