What to Expect
FAQs – Bootcamp UK Southampton (Millbrook Rugby Club)
Is Bootcamp UK Southampton suitable for beginners?
Yes. Sessions are genuinely mixed‑ability. Lou designs each class so you can start from your current fitness level and build up gradually, with easier and harder options for every exercise.
What should I bring?
Wear comfortable workout clothes and trainers, and bring a water bottle. A light layer (hoodie/jacket) is useful in cooler weather, and gloves can help on colder evenings at Millbrook Rugby Club.
Do sessions run in the rain?
Yes – we train outdoors year‑round. If the weather’s rough, Lou adapts the session to keep it safe and manageable. Only in genuinely unsafe conditions would a class be cancelled, and you’ll be updated if that happens.

Do I need to book?
Yes, please book in advance. It keeps numbers sensible and makes your first visit smoother. Most new members start with the 10 sessions for £10 intro offer to try Bootcamp UK Southampton before choosing a membership.
Is there parking nearby?
Yes. There is parking at Millbrook Rugby Club or close by on Redbridge Lane. Aim to arrive a few minutes early the first time so you can park, find the group and meet Lou.
How often should I come each week?
Most members see the best results with 2–3 sessions per week, but even once a week is a great place to start while you build the habit.
I’m nervous about joining a group – is that normal?
Completely normal. Lots of people turn up on their own at first. The group is friendly and supportive, and Lou makes sure you’re never singled out – you’ll just be guided, encouraged and welcomed in.

Your coach – Lou Crozier
Sessions at Millbrook Rugby Club are led by Lou Crozier, a Level 3 fitness instructor and long‑time Bootcamp UK member turned coach. Lou joined as a member over seven years ago and worked her way up to instructor, so she knows exactly how it feels to be new, nervous and unsure where to start.
Lou focuses on:
- Making everyone feel welcome from day one
- Explaining each exercise clearly with easier and harder options
- Keeping an eye on technique so you move safely
- Building a strong fitness community where people support each other
You’ll also occasionally see other members of the coaching team, but Lou is your main point of contact at Bootcamp UK Southampton. It feels more like a supportive training camp in the park than an old‑school “shouty” boot camp.
“I reviewed joining Bootcamp several times but put it off because I thought you needed to be fit first. Everyone was so friendly and supportive. Six months later I’m fitter, stronger, 40 pounds lighter and now attend various BC fitness events and socials.” – Ian, Southampton

What a Southampton bootcamp session is like
A typical Bootcamp UK Southampton session lasts about 60 minutes and follows a clear structure:
- Warm‑up & mobility – gentle movements to raise your heart rate and prepare joints and muscles.
- Circuit training blocks – rotating stations that mix strength (squats, lunges, presses, rows, core work) with cardio (runs, fast walks, step‑ups), using a straightforward circuit training format on the pitches at Millbrook Rugby Club.
- Coaching & technique help – Lou demonstrates each exercise, offers regressions and progressions, and keeps an eye on form so you move well and avoid unnecessary niggles.
- Cool‑down & stretch – easy stretches and breathing to aid recovery and reduce soreness.
You train alongside the group for motivation, but you always work at your own pace.
When you add photos to the page (Lou coaching, the group in action and the meeting point), use short captions like “Lou leading a circuit at Millbrook Rugby Club” to help new visitors visualise what to expect.

Do I need to be fit before I start?
No. You don’t need a base level of fitness to join Bootcamp UK Southampton. These are genuinely beginner‑friendly classes as well as suitable for people who already train. Lou will help you start at the right level and build up safely, week by week.
What if I’m really unfit or haven’t exercised in years?
That’s very common – and exactly who we see a lot of. In our exercise sessions you can:
- Take rests whenever you need
- Walk instead of run on cardio sections
- Use low‑impact versions of higher‑impact moves
One member put it like this:
“During the first session I struggled to complete sit‑ups and the instructor quietly recommended partial reps. Six months later I’m fitter, stronger, 40 pounds lighter and now enjoy social events with the group.” – Ian, Southampton
You’ll always be given easier options so you can complete the session at your pace and progress gradually.
What should I bring and wear?
Bring:
- Trainers
- Comfortable workout clothes
- Water bottle
That’s all you need – any equipment for the training is provided.
Wear:
- Dress for the weather at Millbrook Rugby Club. A light layer or hoodie is useful, and in colder months gloves can help.
- If it’s wet, wear something you don’t mind getting a bit muddy – it’s part of real outdoor group training.
Will I be able to keep up?
Yes. Everyone works at their own pace, and every exercise in the circuit has easier and harder options. You can slow it down, take breaks, and build up over time. Lou is there to guide and encourage you, not to single you out.
“It’s an amazingly positive and supportive community. The encouragement from other members and from Lou and Kellie helps you achieve things you never thought possible – physically and mentally.” – Cathy, Southampton

What if I don’t know anyone?
Completely normal – lots of people turn up on their own at first. The group at Millbrook Rugby Club is friendly and welcoming, and you’ll quickly feel part of the community. Many people find the social side of training together – fitness events, charity fundraisers and socials – is what helps them stay consistent.
What if the weather is bad?
We train outdoors, so we’re used to UK weather. Sessions usually still run at Millbrook Rugby Club, and Lou adapts the workout if needed to keep it safe and manageable. If conditions are genuinely unsafe, you’ll be updated with what to do next.
